LensTrove reading glasses combine any of our 200+ frames with prescription-grade reading lenses for as little as $21.98 total. Lens strengths run from +1.00 to +4.00 in quarter-diopter increments. Every lens includes UV400, anti-scratch, and anti-reflective coatings.
How reading lenses work
Reading lenses are single-strength magnifiers calibrated for the typical reading distance (16–18 inches). They make text and close-up detail sharp again as natural lens accommodation declines — most people start needing readers between 40 and 50.
Picking the right strength
- +1.00 to +1.50 — early-onset, mid-40s.
- +1.75 to +2.25 — most common, late-40s to mid-50s.
- +2.50 to +3.00 — older eyes or finer print.
- +3.25 to +4.00 — strong near-vision needs.

How do I know what reading strength I need?
If you've never used readers, start at +1.25 or +1.50 and adjust. If you have a prescription, the 'Add' value (e.g. +2.00) is your reading strength. When in doubt, pick the lower strength — too-strong readers cause eye strain.
Can I get bifocals or progressives?
Yes. Add Progressive lenses ($59.99) for a smooth distance-to-near transition, or Bifocal lenses ($39.99) for a discrete reading segment. Single-strength readers ($19.99) are simplest if you only need close-up help.
Are LensTrove readers prescription-grade?
Yes. All reading lenses are made to optical-grade standards with full UV400, anti-scratch, and anti-reflective coatings — the same standard as our distance prescription lenses.
